This is something that’s been kinda bugging me, ever since rewatching Tron Legacy. I understand that in order to make it obvious to the audience, it makes sense to limit the amount of colors used to differentiate programs, but in the process of doing so, you’re also preventing the amount of variety you could really have in a system.
I want to see a nice spectrum of colors for the next movie. Or for any other system that uses colors to denote status/power. I want to see purple, lime, yellow, burgundy, all used for people of different jobs/moralities. Change the saturation or value based on their free will within the system. I’d even like to see programs who change colors, similar to how Tron broke free from his Rinzler programming, and how in the original, Flynn became red after derezzing a guard and assumingly taking his abilities.
I dunno, maybe I’m nitpicking, but it seems odd to me to keep to just a few basic colors. Computers have thousands of ways to differentiate programs, why not show that when you’re looking at them from the inside?
(Also I’d like to mention, I know some of the offshoots give a few more colors, but still, there’s SO much potential that’s left untapped. And if you even mention 2.0, I’ll slap you.)
